Fifth grade graduation portraits that is! Remember when graduation meant from high school or college? Well, now kids have advancement ceremonies (aka graduation) from elementary school and middle school too. Yesterday, my baby girl graduated from Elizabeth Lane Elementary in Matthews, North Carolina. I can’t believe we have a middle schooler. I could write the longest blog post ever telling you how proud we are of her because WE ARE SO PROUD. Or I could give you a million examples of how amazing she is because SHE IS AH-MAZING. But I simply want to say that she’s the best daughter in the world. She’s smart, hard-working, funny, loyal, dedicated, loving, charming, talented, quirky, beautiful and so much more. She is confident in who she is and it shows. I love that. Here’s my Kate yesterday morning just before her 5th grade graduation ceremony. And yes, you know we got up early and had plenty of time to take pictures. It’s tough to be a photographer’s kid.

And just so you know, my kids don’t always behave or pose for pictures. I asked these two goofballs (aka Kate and Jay) to get together for one quick shot and this is what they gave me. I have to admit I like it even better than the perfect smiling, hugging shot I had envisioned. Sometimes you just have to be ready to click and capture.
