Urban Senior Pictures in Uptown Charlotte

This gorgeous girl graduated from South Mecklenburg High School TODAY! Congratulations Georgia! I’m so proud of you. Georgia is heading to Louisiana State University in the fall and I can’t wait to follow along. My brother PJ went to LSU and loved every minute of his time there. I know Georgia will too. I’ve known Georgia’s family for years now. Her youngest brother is good friends with my son Jay and her middle brother occasionally performs with my daughter Kate. But I’ve never spent much time with Georgia so I jumped at the chance to photograph her senior portraits. I knew she’d be stunning but I didn’t know she’d look like she just stepped off the runaway. Hello. She looks like a professional model!

I met Georgia and her mom, Lynn, in Uptown Charlotte earlier this spring. We had so much fun photographing her senior portraits on The Green and in Romare Bearden Park. Uptown Charlotte was particularly busy with prom goers but we easily worked around them and enjoyed seeing all the cute dresses. Georgia looked absolutely beautiful but I want you to know, she has the brains to go with that beauty. She was recently honored as a standout student in her high school’s science department. She also received scholarship offers from LSU, Auburn and Clemson before deciding to join LSU’s Honors College in the Microbiology program. AND after college, she hopes to attend medical school to become an Anesthesiologist. I told you she was smart.

Georgia’s family is from Louisiana and both of her parents attended LSU. All of her extended family still lives in Louisiana. Georgia and her family make frequent trips to visit them and sneak in a few LSU football games. The Thanksgiving LSU vs. Texas A&M game is always a family favorite. Her mom says, “one of the kid’s favorite memories is being there to see Les Miles carried off the field on the shoulders of his players after a nail-biting win.” Needless to say, LSU is in Georgia’s blood. I’m also thinking she might have been brainwashed a bit (I know nothing about that in my own house . . . insert the rolling eyes emoji).

I love this observation from her mom: “Georgia always carried a love for LSU but thought she would stay closer, choosing Chapel Hill or Clemson. However, on a spur of the moment trip to tour the LSU campus, she was reminded of rolling down the historic Indian mounds as a little girl and seeing the spot on campus where her grandfather was first introduced to her grandmother. Somehow her decision became more than just deciding where to spend the next 4 years . . . it became an opportunity to discover her roots.”

Congratulations on graduation today Georgia! You are done with high school! I hope you stood tall and walked proud. You have accomplished so much and now it’s on to the next chapter. Geaux Tigers!

Welcome to my blog! I’m a child and family photographer based in Charlotte NC.

Parents always ask, “what if my kid doesn’t listen?” My answer: that’s actually perfect. Don’t tell your children I said so, but personalities shine when listening ears fail. I welcome the silly. I want the giggles. I watch for honest smiles, real connections and stolen family moments.

This applies to your big kids and high school seniors too. Wink, Wink.
