Uptown Charlotte is the perfect location for urban Senior+Family pictures. I love the mix of green spaces, brick and concrete. My new client Victor loves the urban feel too. He even put an urban campus high on his college wish list. Mission accomplished! He is heading to the University of Pittsburgh in the fall!
From Providence Panther to Pittsburgh Panther
Congratulations Victor! I’m so excited for you and your family. I’ve never visited the school but know there’s so much to love – the bustling Oakland neighborhood, the iconic Cathedral of Learning and even your family connections to higher education in Pennsylvania. Victor’s parents have graduate degrees from University of Pennsylvania and Penn State. They have a strong family legacy in Pennsylvania, one I know Victor will only make even stronger.
I photographed Victor and his family last fall, but I first met him via Zoom about a year earlier during a debate competition. He was debating; I was judging (yes, I’m semi qualified). Victor is a senior at Providence High School (PHS) here in Charlotte and is Captain of the school’s award-winning Speech and Debate Team. During that Zoom competition his presence in the Congressional Debate Chamber was really impressive. So impressive that when his mom contacted me about a photo session and mentioned that her son was a senior debater at PHS, I immediately said, “I know your son!” It really is such a small world.
Victor is also Student Body Vice President at PHS. He hopes to turn his love for speech and debate and leadership into a degree in public policy. He is specifically interested in urban studies and law.
Summer Plans in New Hampshire
Providence High School graduation is set for June 13. After graduation Victor plans to spend part of his summer as a Camp Counselor at William Lawrence Camp in New Hampshire. He hopes to work as a lifeguard and an instructor for both sailing and tennis. Last year Victor earned the camp’s highest honor of “Woodsman.” His final tests included chopping down a tree with an ax, as well as starting a fire at sundown and tending it until dawn. I hope that between the rigor of PHS and his time management skills, Victor doesn’t have to use his “all nighter” camp skills during exam time at Pitt.
Congrats Victor! I am so proud to know you both on and off Zoom. You are such an impressive young man and I can’t wait to watch you make your mark. Thank you for trusting me with your senior portraits! And thank you for bringing your awesome family along too. I loved our time together shooting your urban Senior+Family pictures.

Extra Sibling Favorites
During Senior+Family sessions, I always take time to capture the senior’s siblings both posed and candidly. Here are few of my favorite moments with Victor’s cute brother and sister.
