We get excited about snow here in the South. As a Charlotte childrens photographer, I get really excited about snow. It’s the perfect opportunity for me to photograph my own children enjoying something unique. The last time we had a decent snow in Charlotte was two years ago and you know I photographed it. Last weekend was no different. Sure we only got a little bit of ice and snow, but it was perfect for us. Just fluffy enough to play in, just slick enough to sled on and just dangerous enough to keep the kids out of school for 3 days. Seriously. You’d think we had the 30+ inches of snow this storm dropped elsewhere. We didn’t. But the ice was definitely worth the caution. On Day 1, we mostly stayed inside as the ice fell and by Day 3 it was melting. Here are some photographs from our backyard fun on Day 2, the perfect Charlotte NC snow day. Check out my Instagram feed for some behind the scenes including my son’s letter to Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools stating his position on returning to school. He’s a salesman.

Safety first Mr. Kevin! I’d love to tell you this was proactive, precautionary positioning. It was not.
See, now we don’t need it at all and yes, boogie boards make great sleds.

Holding snowballs above each other’s heads. This could get interesting.
