Photographing Adult Children | Charlotte Family Photos

Families with adult children should absolutely make time for annual photos. I love that this family still makes it a priority. And I love that this year they picked me to photograph them. Photographing families with older children can be tricky to schedule because many adult children live elsewhere and have their own busy schedules. I’m so glad we found one morning during which all five (Buckeye the dog totally counts too) family members were in Charlotte, NC. Meet my friends The Talaricos!

Mom is a photography lover herself and has an amazing eye for light. One of the first things she said to me during our pre-session planning was how much she loved my use of light. That’s a great thing to hear from someone who really knows photography ;-). Actually it’s a great thing to hear from any client because not only does it show a knowledge and appreciation of my work, it tells me what you as a client want to see in your final gallery. Knowing what you love helps me pick the perfect location and perfect time of day. This family session was photographed at Independence Park in Charlotte. Our start time was early. And when I say early, I mean REALLY EARLY. We were all en route to Independence Park by 7 a.m. I’m an early riser so it was perfect for me but here’s what else was perfect: the light. Look at the gorgeous light in these pictures!

I know it gets harder to schedule as the kids get older, but we will find that one day, that one hour and we will make it work!
