Joyful Family Photos in Freedom Park

Freedom Park continues to be one of my favorite locations for family photography because it radiates joy, just like this family. It was the perfect photo session location for this adorable threesome from Stanley, North Carolina. Dad purchased the family session as a Mother’s Day gift (bonus points for Dad!!!) for his wife, then she and I planned it for early fall just in time to commemorate Amelia turning three years old. Note the awesome balloons Mom purchased in the Freedom Park pictures below! We photographed several birthday themed pictures with the balloons and then proceeded with the rest of the family session. 

I love three year olds. They are so full of life and joy. Don’t get me wrong – my own were less desirable at that age – but other people’s three year olds are THE BEST. Three year olds are at a great age for capturing budding personalities – the perfect mix of joy, fun and inhibition. As you can see, Amelia and her parents knocked this out of the park (pun intended). I always advise families with young children to bring special toys to the photo shoot – items they might want in pictures or simply a favorite “friend” the child might want me to meet. I LOVE that Mom let Amelia bring a baby doll and stroller. These special toys add so much variety and fun to the session plus they double as amazing incentives 😉 and triple as joy makers. What little girl wouldn’t love strolling her baby doll through the park on a gorgeous fall day?!? As a sidenote, fall has been unusually warm here in Charlotte this year. This family session was shot in early September when everything was still very warm and very green. It’s November now and not much has changed. I’m loving it!!
