Senior Portraits with an Iconic Vintage Car

My friend Pierce wanted to use an iconic car for his senior portraits. Enter Charlotte the Figgy, a 1991 Nissan Figaro. Let’s show off the pictures first because you have to see this vintage car and the awesome Camp North End setting. But don’t be fooled, Pierce is even more iconic than the car. He was named a University of South Carolina Capstone Scholar and will be entering the University’s Darla Moore School of Business in the fall. He also created a Bourbon & Babysitting business during the pandemic. Now you have to keep reading!

Business School, Bourbon & Babysitting

At USC, Pierce plans to study international business. He is also considering applying to dental school after getting his business degree. Three of his four parents are licensed pharmacists so he’s been around different aspects of healthcare his entire life. Pierce’s mom shared with me his criteria for college selection: (1) a school in which ESPN GameDay would attend a football game (2) a thriving business school and (3) a dental/pre-dental program, “in that exact order of priorities.”

During the COVID pandemic, Pierce expressed an interest in learning how to make cocktails (for his parents and their friends) and has perfected the craft of making a Manhattan, Old Fashioned (plain, pumpkin, or spiced apple) and Mules. Pierce is an entrepreneur at heart and used this skill to start a Bourbon & Babysitting business for close family friends.  In fact, he wrote about this for his college essay. His parents are confident he will go on to perfect his mixology skills throughout college.

Extreme Teen Leaders

At the age of 13, Pierce joined Extreme Teen Leaders which consists of four separate programs that provide teens with the key social and emotional skills. The programs take over a year to complete and focus on teamwork, leadership and mental resilience. Pierce completed all four programs and has continued to stay involved by volunteering over 1000 hours. He is currently serving as a Peer Coach and Captain for other teens in the program. In addition, he was recently selected to be a Trainer for the first program in NYC. That is a HUGE honor and it kicks off tomorrow, April 28th!

Pierce graduates from Lake Norman High School on June 10. He has family traveling from Oklahoma, Arkansas and Florida for this graduation. After graduation, he will travel to Greece for two weeks.

We grabbed a few final shots with with the vintage car as the sun went down. I told you it was iconic.

Pierce – I’ve loved photographing you ever since you were a little kid running around with your older cousins. You always light up every room you enter and your senior session was no different. We had an absolutely gorgeous spring evening for these portraits. The haze and sun flare we captured in some of these make my heart sing. But honestly, it would not have mattered because your smile is always so bright. Thank you for letting me be a part of your senior year. I love what we created together.

meet Abbe

Welcome to my blog! I’m a child and family photographer based in Charlotte NC.

Parents always ask, “what if my kid doesn’t listen?” My answer: that’s actually perfect. Don’t tell your children I said so, but personalities shine when listening ears fail. I welcome the silly. I want the giggles. I watch for honest smiles, real connections and stolen family moments.

This applies to your big kids and high school seniors too. Wink, Wink.
