This was the summer Jay found his new sports love, golf. He attended several junior golf clinics at Raintree Country Club and played every.single.day that we could get him there. Golf is in our blood. I grew up watching (not playing) my younger brothers dominant the local, state and national Junior PGA tours. My brother PJ went on to play collegiate golf at LSU and spent several years on various professional golf tours. My dad loves golf too as do Ryan’s parents. My mom and I never even tried. That’s not true. I took a few lessons way back when and was almost as bad as I am at tennis today, so yeah, golf might be in my blood but the talent skipped me. Maybe I passed some skill on to Jay. If not skill, definitely a love of the game. At this point in his young golf career, he couldn’t be more passionate about it.
This day I offered to caddy (aka take pictures) for Jay. It was his only ticket to the course so he was happy to appease me. When he arrived at Raintree his friend Vivian, who plays on the club’s Junior PGA team, was available to join us. They both played great! My caddy skills were questionable but that was just a photography cover anyway. The kids drove the ball long and I got bonus driving points for outrunning a quickly approaching storm. I like to drive fast – even in a golf cart – and it came in handy today. We all had a blast and I might have even earned some cool mom points too 😉
Here are a few favorites from our afternoon golfing.
