I love Avery’s laugh. And her big smile. She has been one of my favorites for a long time. She is full of life and packs a lot of personality into that petite body of hers. If you are lucky, you know Avery both on and off the stage, or maybe even on and off the track. She’s been a performer for as long as I’ve known her and more recently, a star runner for Providence High School.
Avery graduates from high school on June 14th and will attend my alma mater, The University of Tennessee in the fall. Go Vols! Avery plans to study Political Science with hopes of pursuing law school. She was inspired by her dad who is in law enforcement as well as her grandfather who was also in federal law enforcement.
I photographed Avery last month in the natural setting of Marvin Efird Park just south of Charlotte, North Carolina. Here are a few of my favorites from her Senior Portrait Session.

Cross-Country Captain, Choir and Colorado
Avery has been a member of the Providence XC team for all four years and served as Captain this year. She also ran on the school’s track team for three years. She took a break from track this year to participate in the school musical “Sweeney Todd” and had a blast. Avery’s mom says “she probably loves singing above all else.” She is in three high school choirs – Women’s Chamber Choir, Mixed Chamber Choir and the Acabellas. In addition, she sings and plays piano on her church’s worship team and is very involved in Young Life. This summer she will be volunteering with the Young Life work crew in Colorado.
I always like to hear about my seniors favorite high school memories. All of Avery’s include spending time with her friends. I know she’s going to have a summer full of awesome memories too. And hopefully a fall full of football wins, new friends and the sound of Rocky Top scorched on her brain forever. Vol 4 Life!
I’m so proud of you Avery. And I’m proud of Tennessee for recognizing and choosing the best! Thank you for letting me be a part of your senior year. I love the natural portraits that we created together.
