It’s taken me over a month to share this special session because finding the right words has been hard. I know, lack of words is not my normal state.
As photographers – if we are lucky – we capture special moments every day. We celebrate growth, love and the many milestones along the path of life. Occasionally, we are called to the end of a path. This was my first. Meet Seymour – Heaven’s new guard dog – and his amazing family. Cancer ended Seymour’s time on Earth just days after these pictures were taken. His family knew; I knew; we all knew we had very limited time to capture his snuggles, his playfulness, his spirit, his joy, his love . . . him. It was all very sudden.
I was and still am honored beyond measure to have been called upon to photograph Seymour and his family during his last days. He was a best friend, a playmate, a brother, a child and so much more. I know heaven is still celebrating this pet’s welcome home.
Thank you Johnson family for introducing me to Seymour. Pet photography has never meant more to me than it did this day.
If you want to see more furry friends, please check out Puppy Love and my own dog Max in .0875 Inches of Snow Fun. Max also makes frequent cameo appearances in my Instagram feed.
