Last week Brent spoke at his graduation and this week, he’s off to Tulane University. Every one is going to miss this Senior Class President so much. He’s always smiling. He’s always considerate. He always brightens your day and he’s never met a stranger. Brent – you make the world a better place and I know you will bring that energy to Tulane. They are so lucky to have you.
Meet my friend Brent D. He graduated from Providence Day School (PDS) last Friday during an in-person ceremony for the seniors and staff. They were socially distanced on the school’s football field. Family members watched online but otherwise, PDS executed a traditional graduation ceremony. Brent and other senior class officers opened the ceremony with words of encouragement and high school memories. Brent said that being there in person to hear the speeches verses watching them online was his favorite part of graduation. He also loved being able to see his friends and celebrate with them, even if from a distance. It was a great way to end their time together at Providence Day.
In his next chapter, Brent is returning home to Louisiana to attend Tulane University. He plans to study business and marketing. When asked what he’s most looking forward to about college life, Brent immediately responded, “Just a new chapter that’s hopefully more normal, less COVID.” Well spoken my friend. We need more normal. Less COVID.
Brent and high school seniors around the world missed many senior milestones this past spring because of COVID-19 restrictions. When asked what he missed most, Brent said being in the hallways with friends during class changes. I remember those days too – the few minutes in-between classes when the halls buzzed with energy, laughter and plans. I’m not surprised that’s what he missed most. As mentioned above, Brent was Providence Day’s Senior Class President. He was also the two-time Track Captain and three-time Club President of RunningWorks, a volunteer organization that helps fight homelessness and poverty.
In addition to all of this awesomeness, Brent made the Head of School’s List at Providence Day and the All State Track Team for hurdles. He also secured a summer senior internship in London that should have ended right about now. If all goes well, he will travel to London next summer to complete this marketing job.
Brent – We are all so proud of you. Thank you for showing me around Providence Day’s gorgeous campus during your senior session. I love how connected you are to the school and how you came ready to capture all the things you love about it. I’m going to miss you!
Stay tuned for more new senior photo sessions. It’s been a busy summer! In the meantime, please visit my senior portfolio or view other seniors on the blog.
