I never turn down an invitation to visit Old Frankfort Farm and Stables in Waxhaw, North Carolina. The farm is owned by my friend Jenny and I’ve been lucky enough to photograph her family there twice. The first time was five years ago for her daughter Emma’s senior portraits and family pictures. This time I got to photograph the gorgeous Isabel. As you will see, it was a perfect fall evening on the farm. The light was stunning and all of the farm animals were ready to play too.
NC State Bound!
Meet my friend Isabel. She is graduating from Providence High School this weekend and will be attending North Carolina State University in the fall. Isabel is entering NC State in the Exploratory Studies program and is looking forward to discovering what she wants to study. She is interested in both engineering and architecture, but is currently undecided on a major. I love that she is giving herself time to explore her passions.
Color Guard, Animal Lover & Seasoned Camper
In high school, Isabel was a color guard member of the award-winning Pride of Providence Marching Band. This past spring, she joined the inaugural Providence flag football team and had a blast trying something new. She is a long-time member of Cardinal II Pony Club, where she competed many times over the years as a rider and stable manager, both in local competitions and twice at the USPC Championships in Lexington, Kentucky and Tryon, North Carolina. You will see Isabel pictured with her horse below. The love between them is so evident! And it’s also pretty obvious that she is an animal lover in general. That love was also very much reciprocated. The dogs could not wait to be photographed with her and even though the farm cats were elusive, they are clearly aware that they have a friend in her.
Isabel is also a seasoned camper. She spent 10+ years at Camp Harrison in Boomer, North Carolina as both a camper and more recently as a counselor. Being a part of the Camp Harrison community is one of her great joys. I understand that joy. I loved my own camp experiences growing up, but also have personal experience at Camp Harrison. My daughter attended camp there for several summers and we attended Family Camp there too. It’s a super special place and my family has so many awesome memories from our time there. I know Isabel feels the same way. I just hope none of us encounters the Beaver Shark any time soon. IYKYK.
Isabel plans to work this summer and spend lots of time with her pets, whom she will miss enormously.
Below are a few of my favorites from her senior portrait session. She looked amazing and we had so much fun. It’s always an honor to celebrate special milestones with families I love. Thank you all for having me out to the farm again!
