Senior Portraits & Family Pictures at Myers Park Methodist Church

There are lots of great locations throughout Charlotte for senior portraits and family pictures. When a location has a special meaning to my clients, that’s an extra bonus.

Meet my next featured future graduate, Providence High School senior Jackson. He and his family attend Myers Park United Methodist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. Jackson has been a faithful volunteer at Myers Park Methodist since he was 11. He volunteers every summer at Vacation Bible School and Summer Fun Days, a two-week day camp. He is a HUGE hit with children and literally has a summer fun following. He’s also been a youth server in sanctuary services such as Bible Carrier, Acolyte and Crucifer since the 5th grade, and has participated in many service projects over the years. For his service both at church and within the community, Jackson is a TWO-TIME recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Award.

Jackson is headed to the University of South Carolina in the fall and will major in Sports Management. He’s a third generation Gamecock. His mother attended USC as did her parents. I know Jackson considered several other colleges, but I don’t think there was ever any doubt where he would end up. Jackson is a loyal Gamecock fan and a huge sports fanatic in general. He’s very athletic and has always enjoyed both playing and following sports. This past fall, Jackson volunteered at The First Tee of Greater Charlotte combining his love of golf with his gift for working with children. This summer, Jackson plans to work at Raintree Sports Camp and his church day camps. He also plans to play a lot of basketball with his 1st grade neighbor. They play almost every day and Jackson’s mom says, “I think this child is just as sad as I am that Jackson is headed to college in August.” Now that’s an exceptional human and role model in my opinion. He is going to be missed by so many, young and old.

I’m excited to see where life takes you Jackson. Thank you and your entire family for allowing me to document this special time in your lives.

I love this picture of Jackson’s parents kissing under the cherry blossoms. It was taken at the very end of our session. I like to think it represents happily surviving high school with one kid and the family photo session too! I still can’t decide if I prefer it in color or black and white. I love both versions for different reasons. The spring colors really stand out in the color version and for me, emotion takes center stage in the black and white conversion.

I’ve been featuring high school seniors all month so please click on my blog to see these amazing grads and soon-to-be graduates. And guess what? I still have many more to share so I’m extending my senior blog features into June. May is always such a busy month for my business and my own family, and honestly, there were always too many senior sessions to squeeze into May anyway. Between those I photographed in the fall and the new ones we just shot this spring, I have a lot to show you!

Please come back soon to see another new senior portrait session. In the meantime, please visit my teen and senior portfolio or click here for more senior sessions from the blog.

meet Abbe

Welcome to my blog! I’m a child and family photographer based in Charlotte NC.

Parents always ask, “what if my kid doesn’t listen?” My answer: that’s actually perfect. Don’t tell your children I said so, but personalities shine when listening ears fail. I welcome the silly. I want the giggles. I watch for honest smiles, real connections and stolen family moments.

This applies to your big kids and high school seniors too. Wink, Wink.
