Senior portraits in the spring often means warmer weather and yes, college shirts! Meet my longtime friend and client Lucy. She loves warm weather and luckily the University of Miami loves her. She graduates from Providence High School on June 13 and moves to South Florida this fall. I adore this picture of her showing off the school’s famous U hand gesture. It looks good on her (and perfectly frames her gorgeous face)!

Lucy received a 4-year President’s Scholarship to Miami and will study Microbiology and Immunology. She was offered a great opportunity to do research during her freshman year with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and also plans to continue her Spanish language studies and eventually, study abroad. Lucy has lots of family in South Florida, so she already loves the weather and culture. During her college visits, it only took one walk around Miami’s beautiful campus to seal the deal on this school with such great pre-med/science programs. I’m so proud of her but so not surprised. Lucy has been a shining light in our lives for a long, long time. She attended Elizabeth Lane Elementary and South Charlotte Middle School with my daughter Kate.
For as long as I can remember, Lucy has been a powerhouse swimmer. My kids lasted one season in swim team; Lucy is still swimming. She recently served as a Captain of the Providence High School (PHS) Swim and Dive Team. Her favorite stroke is freestyle which she swims in both individual races and relays. This year – as a senior – she made regionals for the first time in not just one, but two events! Lucy is also a member of the National Honor Society and National Spanish Honor Society.
This summer she looks forward to spending time with friends, working part-time and hopefully traveling to meet her roommate. She also plans to visit family before heading to Miami in August.
Thank you Lucy and Anne for meeting me Uptown to document these final senior days. Lucy – you are stunning. I went to Tennessee and orange NEVER looked that good on me. Thank you for trusting me with your senior portraits. Go Canes!
