Summer Loving Family of 4 | Charlotte Family Photographer

Long summer days are my favorite and this family of 4 made the most of our recent evening together.  We met a few weeks ago at their Dilworth neighborhood home for family portraits.  I love shooting at client’s houses because home is always special, always personal, always you.  We captured swing set fun, sparkling light from the backyard trees, family snuggles on the front porch and even play time with their brand new puppy.

It’s so important to take time to photograph your children in action because every single day something changes . . . teeth start appearing where gaps once were, facial expressions change and puppies, they grow up too.  I love recording these special times for my clients because when they are gone, they’re gone.  I especially LOVE when mom and dad get in the pictures too.  How sweet are these images of the family relaxing on the front porch?

I had so much fun during this summer session.  It was relaxed, naturally posed and perfectly in-sync with our goal of capturing real connections and all the candid moments in between.  When we started planning this session I remembering telling mom, “Your kids will goof off.  I welcome it.”  I truly mean that.  I want every family I work with to enjoy being photographed because it shows in the final product.  Many times families don’t want the session to end.  It really does happen.  This awesome family still needed dinner so we wrapped it up after an hour but just look at all the variety and gorgeous, gorgeous summer light that night . . . fantastically clean front lighting, yummy back lighting and golden rim lighting.  I was in heaven.

Thank you R family for asking me to just come do my thing. My style is a mix of modern lifestyle photography and traditional portraiture. I think it’s the best of both worlds and I hope my clients agree.
