It’s June, graduation month for most of my high school seniors including this gorgeous girl. Meet Julia M! She’s graduating from Providence High School next week and will be attending the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) in the fall. Julia ran track all four years at Providence and cross country for three years. She’s not planning to run in college but isn’t completely ruling it out either. At a minimum, I forsee long runs on the beach.
UNCW is located approximately five miles west of Wrightsville Beach so proximity to the ocean is certainly one of the things that makes UNCW a top choice for many students. I’ve never visited UNCW’s campus but I hear it’s absolutely beautiful and with around 16,500 students, it was just the right size for Julia. She plans to major in Biology with a concentration in Criminology. Smarty pants! What’s “Criminology” you ask? Well, I googled it and UNCW is currently ranked #3 in the 2019 Best Online Colleges for a Bachelor’s in Criminology. That’s a huge honor for the entire program both online and on campus. You can click the links provided above to take a deep Internet dive but in general, Criminology is a social science approach to studying law making, law breaking, and the social responses to crime. So interesting!
Like so many seniors, Julia is very excited about this next chapter in her life. Below are some of my favorite images from her senior portrait session at Marvin Efird Park, just south of Charlotte. Her mother Kathryn joined us and you know I begged her to jump in a few photos too. The one of them hugging tugs at all my heart strings. I just adore it and so many of these. This session really had everything – a gorgeous senior, great fashion choices, beautiful weather and a few mom cameos. I also always love the mix of the wheat fields, tall grasses and the barn at this location. It was a great night!
I’m so happy to know you Julia and proud of your many successes. You are going to love college and I can’t wait to follow along.
